EU Special Envoy for Afghanistan met with Political Deputy of Islamic Emirate

On Tuesday May 21st, the Islamic Emirate release a statement on the meeting with the European Union Special Envoy for Afghanistan.  Below is a copy of the statement.

“European Union Special Envoy for Afghanistan, Roland Kobia, met with the Deputy of Islamic Emirate in Political Affairs and Chief of Political Office, the respected Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar, and his team.

The meeting took place today in the capital of Qatar, Doha.

The Political Deputy of Islamic Emirate, the respected Mullah Baradar Akhund, discussed the current situation of Afghanistan, negotiations with the United States, prevention of civilian casualties and humanitarian aid with the EU Special Envoy.

Moreover, the EU Special Representative clarified the policy of the European Union towards Afghanistan and gave assurances of a positive role in Afghan peace as a representative of this institution.

He also expressed hope of continuing future contact with the Political Office of the Islamic Emirate.
