What if Iran spent money on its people and not terrorist groups?

Italy, May 24, 2019 – At a conference held at Italy’s Radical Party, Mario Baldasoro, former deputy finance minister of Italy, issued a report titled, “What if Iran spent its terror group budget on domestic issues?”

This conference, hosted by former Italian MP Elisabetta Zamparutti, also saw the participation of former Italian foreign minister Giulio Terzi, Senator Lucio Malan, Senator Roberto Rampi, former Italian MP Nicola Chirachi, Hands Off Cain Secretary Sergio Dalia and Iranian community spokesman Behzad Bahrebar.

At the beginning of the conference, Zamparutti emphasized on the importance of the Iranian regime’s ambassador and a diplomat terrorist being expelled from Albania, home to members of the Iranian opposition group People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI/MEK). Tehran has resorted to terrorism, execution, and crackdown against the PMOI/MEK to continue its rule over the Iranian people, the former Italian MP said, adding the mullahs’ regime in Iran has the highest execution per capita.

Badasoro delivered his investigative report over the Iranian regime’s financial support for terrorist groups, saying Tehran allocates at least $1 billion annually for its linked proxies in Iraq, Yemen, Lebanon, and even Latin America. Considering the expenses that Tehran provides for terrorist groups, in just the past four years Tehran could have created 2.4 million jobs and reconstructed the country’s infrastructure, he added.

Senator Malan delivered a speech saying financial corruption has become utterly rampant inside the mullahs’ regime. This regime remains in power through human rights violations, including executions, torture, lashing, and crackdown against religions and ethnic minorities. Western countries should not close their eyes to these realities and should refrain from any dealings with this regime, he added.

Senator Rampi, a member of the Italian Senate Human Rights Committee said the mullahs’ regime oppress the Iranian people and endanger the stability of neighboring countries to ensure their rule. This regime is the world’s leading state sponsor of terrorism and therefore any government seeking stability and security must stand firm against this regime, he added.

Former Italian foreign minister Giulio Terzi in his remarks said based on various studies, the Iranian regime has for years become a global threat. We all know that Tehran spends the Iranian people’s national wealth to maintain its rule, he added. Terzi went on to reiterate Tehran’s role in Syria and maintaining Bashar Assad in power, and condemning Europe’s appeasement approach with the mullahs. The former Italian foreign minister called for a firm approach vis-à-vis the mullahs’ regime in Iran.

Former Italian MP Chirachi welcomed the United States’ new policy against the regime in Iran and said Europe should have the courage to tell the Iranian regime that enough is enough. The mullahs’ rule has been forced to its knees politically, economically and socially, he said, adding we must stand firm against this regime and confront its policies.

Behzad Bahrebar expressed his gratitude to Mr. Baldasaro for his research and said the economic crisis that the Iranian regime has enforced upon the Iranian people, in addition to corruption and plundering by the mullahs’ regime, paints a horrific picture of the devastation brought upon Iran by the mullahs’ regime. The Iranian Resistance has for 40 years been saying this regime cannot be reformed. The mullahs have been wasting the country’s riches on maintaining its rule and fueling terrorism and warmongering.

The last speaker of the session was Hands Off Cain Secretary Sergio Dalia said the number of executions has reached over 3,800 during the tenure of the so-called “moderate” Iranian regime President Hassan Rouhani. This regime launched a horrendous massacre in the summer of 1988, sending tens of thousands of people to their deaths in a matter of a few short months. Many of those involved in these crimes, including the current judiciary chief, was involved in those crimes. The appeasement policy vis-à-vis the regime ruling Iran has in fact placed global and regional security in danger.
