While appearing at a conference in Dallas, Texas, former national security adviser Michael Flynn was asked by a former marine why the type of coup that occurred in Myanmar can’t occur in the U.S. Flynn responded:
“No reason. I mean, it should happen here.”
The footage, that went viral on social media prompted the critics to accuse the former DIA director of inciting violence – Myanmar’s government was overthrown by its military which disputed the election results. In the months that followed, thousands have been arrested and 800 civilians have died in the Southeast Asian nation.
“Arrest Flynn – for advocating the violent overthrow of the government of the United States and working to attempt same,” liberal pundit Keith Olbermann tweeted.
