Iraqi President Welcomes Islamic Supreme Council’s Leader

On Sunday, 18, July 2021, the President of the Republic of Iraq, Barham Salih met with the head of Islamic Supreme Council of Iraq, Humam Hamoudi. The meeting was held at al-Salam Palace in Baghdad.
Latest developments in politics, security related-matters in Iraq and delivering better services to the citizens were discussed during the meeting.

President Salih and Sheikh, Humam Hamoudi agreed that it is vital to enhance the security situation in the country, and work towards having further dialogue.

Peaceful coexistence must be protected while peace and security over the country should be ensured, they said, therefore, populations’ livelihoods should be improved, and people’s demands for having better public services must be met.

On the other hand, meeting participants agreed on the need to sustain security efforts to bring bout the end of the terrorism and its remaining cells.

The meeting’s agenda also included discussion of the importance of Iraq’s upcoming parliamentary elections.
Talks focused on the need that measures and appropriate security conditions were necessary in order to make sure that the ballot was conducted freely and fairly, and there can be no suspicion of fraud, manipulation or pressure on voters so the election will reflect the free will of the Iraqi, and it also ensures large turn-out at election.
