On Sunday, November 21, 2021, the President of the Republic of Iraq, Barham Salih met with Iraq’s former Prime Minister Haider al -Abadi.
The most recent development in the country in addition to the legislative elections’ file were discussed during the meeting.
President Salih and Mr. al-Abadi emphasized how important it was to maintain security and stability and promote peace in the country and work towards bringing positions together.
Lingering issues should be resolved where there could be further dialogue, they said, and it is of great importance to keep democratic process on track.
Participants in the meeting agreed upon the need that complaints and appeals related to the elections should be resolved according to the Iraqi constitution and law and by the competent judicial bodies.
Therefore, the Judicial body’s decision will be made in a constitutional and legal way, they continued, and this will help to work towards forming a government that is able to carry out the next tasks and meet the Iraqi people’s aspirations to live a life of freedom and dignity.
