Eeleyanet Gostar Targeting US military Personnel

Iranian intelligence carried out a cyber operation aimed at at least 200 representatives of defense and aerospace companies in the United States, UK and some European countries, as well as military personnel.

The group used fake online identities to interact with targets, sometimes building “relationships” with them for several months, offering to follow links to sites with malware that was embedded in their PCs and other gadgets.

The network created by Iranian specialists included several sites-clones of American resources for the selection of jobs in the defense sphere, etc.

“This activity had the hallmarks of a well-resourced and well-thought-out operation, while relying on relatively strong operational security measures to hide who was behind it,” Facebook said in a post from a mid-June investigation into the group’s spy activities.
