The police arrested nine men in Eindhoven yesterday on suspicion of preparing and training for a terrorist attack. The suspicions are so serious that the Public Prosecution Service is convinced that a terrorist threat has been averted. The “OM” does not want to say what the target was at the moment, that is still being investigated.
According to the Public Prosecution Service, preparing for a terrorist offense means that knowledge and intelligence have been gathered. “That could be for themselves or for others,” a spokesperson said.
The suspects are between 18 and 31 years old and have Dutch nationality. Eight of them were born in the Netherlands and one in Afghanistan. They are also suspected of participating in a terrorist organization.
