Mayyun Organization welcomes the extension of the armistice and stresses the importance of removing and destroying mines during the period of validity Mayyun Human Rights Organization welcomed the announcement by the United Nations Special Envoy for Yemen today, Thursday, to extend the armistice for an additional two months in the country.
In a brief statement, the organization stressed the need to respect the ceasefire and expedite the opening of roads and ports, especially in Taiz, to facilitate the movement of the population. Mayyun stressed the importance of giving due importance to the operations of clearing and destroying landmines during the truce period, with the support of the United Nations and its offices in Yemen.
United Nations special envoy to Yemen, Hans Grundberg, announced earlier today, Thursday, that the parties to the conflict in the country “accepted the United Nations proposal to renew the current armistice for an additional two months, starting at seven in the evening today, Thursday.”
