Iraqi President Meets US Ambassador

On Wednesday, May 18, 2022, the President of the Republic of Iraq, Barham Salih met with the outgoing American Ambassador, Matthew Tueller on the occasion of the end of his mission in Iraq. The meeting took place at al-Salam Palace in Baghdad.

President Salih commended the efforts made by Ambassador Tueller to develop Iraqi-American ties before his tenure comes to end in Iraq, and wished him success in his next mission.

There are close and deep relationships between Iraq and the USA, the two sides agreed, and thus it is imperative to strengthen these relations at every level, in the way that would most benefit both nations’ citizens.

The outgoing US Ambassador, in turn, hailed the efforts made by President Salih to further enhance ties between Iraq and the USA.

Furthermore, he emphasized his country’s commitment to supporting security and stability in Iraq and working toward boosting ties across all fields.
