On Thursday, January 6, 2022, the President of the Republic of Iraq, Barham Salih met with the American ambassador to Iraq, Matthew Tueller.
U.S. and Iraqi relations were discussed during the meeting and how best to strengthen these ties across all sectors in ways that best serve the interests of both nations.
Meeting’s agenda included the discussions of the strategic relationship between the two States, with a focus on economic, cultural and environmental cooperation.
Politics and recent developments related-regional matters in addition to issues of common concern were discussed during the meeting.
Peace and security should be maintained in the region, President and US ambassador agreed, while tensions should be eased through having further positive dialogues.
The meeting placed emphasis on the importance of bringing back Iraq’s pivotal role in the region.
